Digital Playground Review Update

Digital Playground changed hands a few months back, and a good thing too, since my e-mails went unanswered for quite a while there. Thankfully I’m able to do a Digital Playground review update now, and see if the new ownership is helping or hurting things. I don’t have many fears, as you’d be crazy to buy up DP and change much, since they shoot a very branded type of recognizable porn.

Also I’m not sure if the whole company was sold or whether it’s just a new team of people handling their website operations. The latter would make more sense, and it’s helpful that they’re alive and working and stuff.

The tour looks like it’s had an upgrade recently, but it’s a little disappointing that you can’t do much without being hit with their join page repeatedly. Some of the claims include 350+ full DVD movies, 700+ pornstars, multiple AVN awards as well as winning 2011 Studio of the Year from XBIZ.

Inside the members area of DigitalPlayground there’s a model index, a list of all their titles by DVD cover and by scene, and a large BTS (behind the scenes) area with 197 individual BTS scenes.

A large amount, but a pittance compared to their main video list of 2,082 total scenes, from 367 separate DVD titles – all from the studios of Digital Playground.

The one make or break thing that members need to know before joining is that the videos are not downloadable here. Some fans will love this, as it makes pirating their work more difficult, and means the company is doing a good job of protecting their videos for their loyal paying customer’s eyes only. However if you like to download your movies, this may be a non-starter for you.

As far as viewing the videos on their site, there are 4 size options including HD, which looks good even maximized on my 24″ monitor.

There are also no photos at all on DigitalPlayground.com, as I supposed they don’t take any when they do their DVD scenes.

Digital Playground is a top tier production studio with the biggest names in the business, and has always been known to push the limits of available technology since starting in the early 1990’s. They’re also one of the few studios that have their own lineup of contract stars . They’re won AVN’s Studio of the Year award 4 out of the last 7 years.

Digital Playground is a worldwide adult production company, mainly known for producing their lines of XXX titles. They started in 1993, and boast one of the largest libraries of HD content in the world. They are probably most famous for their blockbuster movie “Pirates” that is one of the best selling feature adult films of all time.

An underpromoted fact about Digital Playground is that it’s owned and operated by women, unlike most other porn production companies. They also boast a roster of the top female talent in the industry who star in their DVD films.

So what’s at their website? This is a website review, after all! I’ve been to this site numerous times throughout the years, and when I visited this time it was clear things have changed a lot.

The first thing I noticed was a nice flash design, which works well but has a few drawbacks. I don’t love how you have to wait for the navigation bar to appear, and navigating the site was a bit on the slow side. However it all works, and the site design looks really nice.

All of the video content at DigitalPlayground.com is shot and produced by DP themselves, they post their whole DVD’s here broken into scenes for your convenience. They utilize a large flash player to watch the videos in, but unfortunately you can’t download the videos. They look good and played well in the player for me though, and are quite long. Nothing needs to be said about the quality of the porn – it’s Digital Playground, after all!

Some of the DVD titles and series included here are Deeper, Jack’s Teen America, My First Porn, Jack’s Playground, Naked Aces, and quite a few one offs from specific pornstars like Shay Jordan and Jesse Jane.

In total there are over 150 full DVD’s on the site, each with about 5-6 scenes, making for… A lot of porno.

In addition to the big movies, there is a photo section, live area, some standard feeds, extras and a Virtual TV section.
