MPL Studios Review

MPL Studios is an interesting offering that is gathering steam as time goes on. It seems like they’re really ramping up their updates and plans for the future, which are both great things for their customers. This is an erotic photography site, which I’d say has a bit of a teenage and twenty-something focus. They boast having over 25,000 photos and 61 movies online. Other features include ZIP downloads, 720×528 resolution videos (very high) and daily updates.

There are really two ways to browse the content on this site. The Updates section is probably the best way to search for a first time user of MPL. This updates page looks very similar to several other erotic photography sites. They use a magazine cover style design, choosing a single picture from each set and making it into a magazine cover, with the title of Studio Girls.

These magazine covers will bring some inevitable comparisons between other well known competing erotic photography sites, as many of them have adopted this same style for their updates page. Sites like Met-Art, FTV Girls, Hegre Archives, all of these have the same magazine cover idea. There are three main reasons for this I think. First, it looks great. Second, it’s very functional and allows members to quickly bounce around and find the ladies they want to see. Lastly it adds some professionalism and ‘secures their position’ among these top photography sites.

Magazine covers aside, it’s the pictures we came for! MPL Studios makes roughly 20-30 updates per month, leaning towards 30 for all of 2005. The updates go back to September of 2003, and they’ve been solidly updating since.

Back to the second way to browse the site – by the studio girls, or model directory. You’ll notice that this section is broken up into three different studio locations – Budapest, Moscow, and Prague. After speaking briefly with the webmaster, their shooting takes place mostly in Russia, which is why the Russian section is easily the largest of the three.

Almost all of the models appear more than one time here, in fact some of the girls like Sophie Moone have 10-20 sets for them. Each set has between 30 and 200 pictures, with the average number probably somewhere between 75 and 100 pictures per set. Some of the sets are offered in various resolutions, at 600, 1200 and 1600 respectively. Others are just available in high resolution. You’ll notice you probably recognize some of the models, especially if you’ve been a member of a site like 1by-day. Thankfully they’ve taken some of the top models from there like Sopie Moone and Simony and done very good work with them here.

Browsing images is easy and effective, with next, first, last, and previous buttons available from each large picture. If you’d rather just download the whole set, they’re available in ZIP archives. Great for, well, everybody!

The videos are certainly second stage here at MPL Studios, as with most artistic erotic sites. Having said that, I was very happy with the quality and content of their videos here. They are full length features, sometimes seperated into two parts. Each video is about 75mb, so if it’s a double feature it’s usually about 150mb. The videos are very high resolution and look good when stretched to full screen mode.

Content wise the movies usually have one or two girls, and are usually masturbation based. This is a softcore site that doesn’t mind a little bit of spread eagle pink, and some light insertion, but you’re not going to see a girl hammer on herself with a dildo either. Also there is no boy/girl at this site from what I saw.

Overall this is a solid offering in their niche. Exclusive content, nearly 2 full years of updates, and some beautiful models here. The billing is pretty fair here too. The site costs $29.95 first month, and $24.95 each month thereafter. Also if you’re willing to pay for two months up front for $59.95, they’ll give you an extra month for a total of three months.
